I met an old Hungarian woman, who came to the US to escape Stalinist Hungary. Now she wants socialism back, and voluntarily sings "The Internationale."
Wouldn't doubt it. When I was living in Los Angeles I knew a lot of Armenians who came to the US in the late 80's/early 90's NOT because they were escaping from "communism" but because they were escaping from all the capitalist reforms.
There was this one person I knew - I think her name was Marineh or something - who told me her grandmother tells her that things were much better under socialism than they are in Armenia today. Armenia has no economy and keeps fighting wars with its neighbors to ensure poor relations. One of the reasons they moved to California was actually because of all the socialist-like social services, though I would hardly call Cali "socialist".
