Chalk Outlines at VCU

When I arrived on the VCU campus this morning I noticed several body outlines drawn in chalk on the ground. The outlines were accompanied by "Stopfemicide.com". So I visited the website. The website's mission is:

This site is primarily dedicated to documenting the problems and progress in Guatemala. While we are committed to ending violence against women and femicide around the world, at this time we focus on Guatemala.

Stop Femicide is run by a team of activists and VCU professors. For more information, see the "about us" section of the Stop Femicide website.

This is interesting because when Students for Social Action wanted to do something similar with chalk, the VCU administration said "no." They even sent the NAACP to spy on them. When SSA asked the NAACP to endorse an upcoming rally to raise awareness about budget cuts, the NAACP pussied out and said "no" because it was afraid it would get in trouble over being involved with, oh horrors, a peaceful "protest" and chalk drawing. It is now clear that the VCU NAACP are a bunch of cowards who don't really care about helping minorities. If they really did care, they'd realize that budget cuts will harm them and that you can't help minorities, or any group for that matter, without taking risks.

But we shouldn't blame the NAACP alone. We should blame the scum who run VCU for being overly anal about chalk. It's chalk for God's sake! It will wash off! I think the VCU bureaucrats are just upset because President Rao hasn't cleaned out their litter boxes in a few days.

On an unrelated note, if you are interested in activist things at VCU then you might like this website. Lalsalamvcu.blogspot.com.

NOTICE: The Partisan is NOT affiliated with any VCU group. If you have problems with what is said here, Mr. Rao, then you can go fuck yourself because this is a non-VCU blog protected by the First Amendment.
