Text to "The Moscow Trials and Great Purge"

The following is the full text to the YouTube video "The Moscow Trials and Great Purge" by RedNickD.

Joseph E. Davies, a former prosecutor and American Ambassador to the Soviet Union, said he believed the Purge Trials proved the guilt of the accused people. According to Davies, almost all of the other ambassadors that were present also believed the trials were fair and proved the accused were guilty.

The “Observer,” a newspaper with anti-USSR views, said on August 23 of the year of the “Show Trials” that: "It is futile to think the trial was staged and the charges trumped up. The Government’s case against the defendants is genuine."

There is a lot of inconsistency when it comes to anti-Stalin information about the Great Purge.

Some people claim that their was mass unrest within the USSR due to it supposedly being oppressive, and the trials happened because the defendants were causing the unrest and trying to “liberate” the people. If this lie was true, then how come mass unrest in the USSR wasn’t reported anywhere outside of newspapers in Nazi Germany and other newspapers that partnered with the German Nazi news sources?

There is no proof the Moscow “Show Trials” were unfair. The accused, the prisoners, were allowed to speak for long periods of time without being stopped. On top of that, none of the prisoners claimed to have been abused while in custody. You’d think one of them would have made a statement about abuse if there had been any. They even looked well. All of the people in the trials had backgrounds showing that they had the physical and moral courage to withstand confessing under pressure. The defendants weren’t in Soviet prison until the May of the year of the trials, so they certainly weren’t going crazy in dungeons as some would have you believe. My point is that nobody tried to coerce them into pleading guilty.

The defendants of the Moscow “Show Trials” had worked under Lenin for at least ten years each, most of them had been with him longer. They had each been in the Bolshevik Party for around 30 years (give or take a few). How could Stalin possibly have outmaneuvered so many people who had influence and power within the party due to seniority and years of work?

Just because somebody was close to Lenin doesn’t mean they were angels, but the revisionists claim everyone who was close to Lenin was an angel. In 1917, when the Party was preparing the armed uprising, Kamenev and Zinoviev, who had close ties with Lenin before 1917, opposed this uprising in a meeting of the Central Committee. When defeated, they carried their opposition into the public Press---and gave away the Bolsheviks’ plans to the government. In response, Lenin wrote:

"I should consider it disgraceful on my part if, on account of my former close relations with these former comrades, I were not to condemn them. I declare outright that I do not consider either of them comrades any longer and that I will fight with all my might, both in the Central Committee and at the Congress, to secure the expulsion of both of them from the Party. … Let Messrs. Zinoviev and Kamenev found their own party from the dozens of disoriented people. … The workers will not join such a party …"

Of course, the revisionists would insist that you should not be suspicious of those two.

Many bourgeois supporters joined the Communist Party in order to try and restore capitalism from the inside. Think about this. What else could the reactionaries have done to continue their struggle after they were defeated militarily? Boris Bazhanov is an example of one of these infiltrators, and he even wrote about it in a book. Then there is George Solomon, who openly declared himself an anti-communist and an enemy of Lenin once he left the USSR.

Then there was Sokolnikov, a former ambassador to Great Britain. He is famous for saying, when referring to himself and like-minded people, “we considered that fascism was the most organized form of capitalism, that it would triumph and seize Europe and stifle us. It was better, therefore, to come to terms with it.” He wanted to come to terms with the existence of fascism! It’s a good thing they purged him.

Former “Left Opposition” members made an alliance with Bukharin in order to kick out Stalin. Bukharin put forward a defeatist line. He wanted class reconciliation and was appalled by the bitterness of class struggle. He certainly wasn’t a true communist. But revisionists and capitalists will insist that such people shouldn’t be watched, shouldn’t be kicked out of the party.

In 1903, Leon Trotsky claimed Lenin represented the reactionary wing of the Party. He always accused the Bolsheviks of being bureaucratic. Then, when Lenin died, Trotsky began to like Lenin all of the sudden and accused Stalin of being all of the bad things he once accused Lenin of being. So Trotsky just regurgitated his old criticisms of Lenin when fighting with Stalin. All Trotsky did was fight with Party leaders, probably because he was power-hungry and wanted to be the leader himself. Sadly, petty-bourgeois cry-babies still think Trotsky shouldn’t have been purged.

The SPD refused to work with the KPD, but Trotsky blames the KPD and Stalin for the lack of anti-fascist unity in Germany around this time period. The SPD was in favor of defending the German bourgeois republic unconditionally, which is why they didn’t work with the KPD. On July 21, 1931, the KPD demanded that the SPD form a united front with them, but the SPD refused. Look at this Iron Front/SPD poster. See the bottom arrow. You can’t work with a group that hates you. And the KPD and SPD never really got along that well anyway. It was the SPD that used the proto-fascist Freikorps to stop the communist uprising earlier in German history.

Trotsky encouraged an insurrection within the USSR at a time when a real uprising in the Soviet Union would have produced a golden opportunity for an early Nazi invasion.

Who’s side was Trotsky really on? Think about that. Capitalists and revisionists, however, still cry that Trotsky was an angel.

Anti-Klan Rally in Richmond

Rumors of an Imperial Klans of America rally were abound in Richmond, Virginia. On Friday, October 30, the people of Richmond responded to the perceived racist threat. An anti-hate rally was held from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM in Richmond's Kanawha Plaza, and The Partisan was on the scene.

The Virginia Defenders for Justice and Equality, as well as independent activists, did a lot of work organizing the anti-hate rally. The Richmond AntiFA (Antifascist Action) appeared at the rally as well. The only group that didn't show up was the Imperial Klans of America.

When contacted by the media about the rumor, the IKA responded by saying they never planned a rally and don't hold public events.

Demonstrators of all races held up signs saying, "Richmond Stands United Against Racism." Others held up comical anti-racist signs that said, "Racism is so 1865," and, "The KKK took my baby away."

At the height of the rally, drivers honked their horns to show support, and the activists did much chanting. A famous leftist and anti-racist chant of "Whose streets? Our streets!" echoed threw the Plaza, and AntiFA flew their flag from the top of a nearby bridge for all people to see that fascism and racism weren't going to be tolerated in Richmond. The rest of the activists, however, loudly made the presence of anti-racism known from the sidewalk.

Racist Hotelier Sparks Outrage

In Taos, New Mexico, a hotel was barely staying in business. Larry Whitten, a professional hotelier, purchased the hotel and put it under new management and new rules. This might seem normal, but one of his rules really angered his workers and local townsfolk.

Whitten demanded that his Hispanic employees Anglicize their names. For example, Marcos would be changed to just Mark. The Hispanic employees, townspeople, and many others found this to be blatant racism!

Martin Gutierrez, a Hispanic ex-employee of Whitten, was fired for simply criticizing the new rule. As a matter of fact, many Hispanic employees were fired for simply having an opinion.

"He told me he didn't care what I thought because this was his business," Gutierrez said. "I don't have to change my name and language or heritage," he said. "I'm professional the way I am."

The League of United Latin American Citizens, a civil rights group, has expressed outrage over this rule. Former workers, their relatives, and advocates of civil rights protested outside of Whitten's hotel recently.

"I do feel he's a racist, but he's a racist out of ignorance. He doesn't know that what he's doing is wrong," said Juanito Burns Jr., the prime minister of Los Brown Berets de Nuevo Mexico (a civil rights organization).

Whitten further enraged the citizens of Taos when he called the townspeople "potheads that escaped society."

What Whitten did, regardless of whether you think it's racist or not, is culturally insensitive and intolerant. Libertarian numskulls think that a business owner should be able to do whatever he wants. Imagine what crypto-Klansman Larry Whitten would do if he was allowed to do anything he wanted with the hotel!

Also, if Whitten intends to do well at managing that hotel, then he should be more open to criticism from below because being closed-minded and insisting that everything you do is wonderful will get you nowhere! Sadly, Whitten, like a typical capitalist, will probably never listen to his employees. The people of Taos should find a way to put Larry Whitten in the garbage can of New Mexican history, and the people of the world should do the same thing with their own bosses!

Suicide Bomber Kills Top Revolutionary Guardsmen in Iran

A suicide bomber killed 5 senior commanders of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard on Sunday. The bombing, which took place near the Iranian-Pakistani border, killed at least 37 other people as well.

The suicide bombing victims included the deputy commander of the Revolutionary Guard's ground forces, General Noor Ali Shooshtari, and a chief provincial Guard commander, Rajab Ali Mohammadzadeh.

The group that carried out the bombing is a militant Sunni group known as Jundallah (meaning "Soldiers of God"). The group claims that the Shiite-controlled Iranian government is oppressing Sunnis.

"The criminals will soon get the response for their inhuman crimes," Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in response to the attack.

Iran has blamed the US, UK, Al-Qaida, and the Taliban for supporting the Jundallah. Connections between the Jundallah and the latter two groups are unclear, and they are most likely only working together in the illicit drug trade. The US and UK have denied any connections to the Jundallah, but they are telling lies yet again!

On May 22, 2007, ABC news reported that, "the United States has supported and encouraged an Iranian militant group, Jundallah, that has conducted deadly raids inside Iran from bases on the rugged Iran-Pakistan-Afghanistan 'tri-border region'."

Seymour Hersh, an investigative reporter for the New Yorker, reported that American agents are in Iran working to create an armed rebellion among the Baluchi ethnic minority, and Jundallah is a Baluchi group they work with.

Although minorities are brutally oppressed in Iran (just ask the Kurdish), and it is always right to rebel against reactionary regimes, Jundallah doesn't represent the interests of the average and oppressed people, which is why it uses careless tactics like suicide bombings. Jundallah represents the interests of American imperialism in the Middle East.

Russian Minister says "No proof Iran makes atomic bombs"

I don't agree with much the Russians do, but this interview with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is worth watching if you're keeping up with Iran and the supposed "nuclear weapons program."

October 22nd, 2009: NO MORE! No More Stolen Lives!

The following is a statement written by Carl Dix, a top member of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA. The statement was distributed via email recently.

Corey Harris, a junior at Dyett High School, a star basketball player and captain of the baseball team, was the first Chicago student to be killed by gun violence this school year—shot to death on September 11. He was killed after school, shot in the back as he ran away from a man with a gun. There was no media outcry over Corey's murder, no statement from the White House about their distress over it. Hundreds of students and adults who loved Corey attended his funeral, but there was no parade of politicians there. The name of his murderer is known by the Chicago Police Department and yet he walks the streets today, uncharged for this murder. Why? The man who executed this unarmed student was an off-duty Chicago cop.

Last year the Chicago police killed 21 people.

The death of Derrion Albert, an honor student at Fenger High School in Chicago, is also a horror for the people. On September 24, the nation was stunned by vivid images of the Fenger High School melee resulting in his death. People are agonizing over how we got into a hellish situation where parents watch students being killed over nothing, where kids grow up haunted by images of gunfire. Everyone talks about responsibility. But who and what is responsible for this situation?

Oscar Brown Jr's poem, "Children of Children," includes these lines:

The children of children trapped by dark skins to stay in and play in a game no one wins

The children of children while still young and sweet are all damned and programmed for future defeat

The children of children are trapped by adults who fail them then jail them to hide the results...

It is a crime of this system that our youth internalize the message they get every day through the worthless schools and degrading conditions and brutalizing cops—the message that this system has no future for them and that they don't even deserve a future—and then they act it out against each other. More police are not the answer, as the police murder of Corey Harris shows.

Youth need to be inspired, encouraged, organized and unleashed to stand up against and resist the conditions they face, including degradation, dehumanization and outright murder they face at the hands of the police. In the course of this, and joining with others to throw off oppression throughout the world, people can and will change themselves.

"The days when this system can just keep on doing what it does to people, here and all over the world...when people are not inspired and organized to stand up against these outrages and to build up the strength to put an end to this madness...those days must be GONE. And they CAN be." ("The Revolution We Need... The Leadership We Have," Revolution #170, July 19, 2009)

October 22nd is the National Day of Protest to STOP Police Brutality, Repression and the Criminalization of a Generation. It is the day to begin to stand up and resist the outrage of police brutality and police murder. FIGHT BACK! WEAR BLACK!

Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize

US President Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday. The jury that awarded him the Prize said it was given to the President for his preference towards diplomacy and nuclear disarmament.

"Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations," said the jury.

The head of the Norwegian Nobel Committee Thorbjoern Jagland said Obama received the award via a unanimous vote in his favor.

If Obama is so peaceful then why did he establish more military bases in Colombia, allow more mercenaries into Iraq, send troops into Somalia, and aim to increase the size of the US military? On top of that, why was he originally in favor of letting Georgia join NATO (an outdated, Cold War-era military alliance), especially while it was under the leadership of the hated President Saakashvili? Why would he let somebody who is obviously oppressing his people join an alliance that supposedly supports “freedom”? Obviously the Nobel Peace Prize committees are composed of idiots.

An American president, regardless of whether he is a Democrat or Republican, winning the Nobel Peace Prize is like Harris and Klebold winning student of the year awards! Obama doesn’t deserve a Nobel Prize. The Nobel “Peace” Prize has now lost all of its credibility.

Down with American imperialism and the Obama administration!
