Hamas and Fatah Begin Unity Talks

Hamas and Fatah agreed to start national unity talks in Cairo on Wednesday (Feb. 25). This came as the DFLP (a communist group in the PLO) demonstrated in support of reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah.

Hamas has again called for the release of its members who are being held prisoner in Fatah territory. I think Fatah should release said prisoners, and Hamas should release all Fatah prisoners and stop attacking PLO members.

Hopefully these talks will end the division between the Palestinian people, who need to unite to defeat Israeli imperialism. United they stand, divided they fall.

Obama Repeating Old Imperialist Mistakes

Monday, February 16, 2009

Quick Update 2/16/09

Pakistani officials are condemning a missile strike by the US in Pakistan's territory. At least 31 people died.

----

Israel is continuing to expand its illegal, and internationally condemned, settlements in the West Bank.

Israeli fighter planes also raided tunnels in Gaza today. The Hezbollah Brigades of Palestine fired two missiles into Israel today also.

----

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has started her tour in Japan. North Korea is on top of her list of things to discuss. You can expect further imperialist harassment of North Korea by the US and Japan (who is under the imperial umbrella).

Americans Turn to the Military to Save the Economy

American conservatives are now arguing to increase military spending as a means of increasing jobs and saving the US economy. Obama supports increasing the size of the military, and unemployed people are turning to the military out of desperation for work.

Conservatives always cry that too much government spending is bad for the economy, but they say the exact opposite when military spending is the topic.

Economists at the University of Massachusetts did a study, and this study showed that military spending is one of the worst ways of creating jobs. A better way would be to spend government money on health care and education. If you don't believe us, look at what high military spending did to the social-imperialist USSR's economy.

When will the American KKKapitalists learn?

China's economy expanded by just 6.8 percent in the final quarter

China's economy expanded by just 6.8 percent in the final quarter, pulling the full-year growth figure down to 9.0 percent, the National Bureau of Statistics reported last month.

Coming after 13.0 percent growth in 2007, the figures offered the most complete picture yet of just how severely the world crisis has hit China's export-dependent economy.

More than 20 million migrant workers, the engine of the nation's economy, have already lost their jobs due to the turndown.

The Only Growth Industry: Prisons

“Larger Inmate Population Is Boon to Private Prisons.” (Wall Street Journal, 11/18)

It looks like the only “growth industry” in the U.S. is expanding the prison system.

“Prison companies are preparing for a wave of new business as the economic downturn makes it increasingly difficult for federal and state government officials to build and operate their own jails.”

“As a crackdown on…[undocumented immigrants], a lengthening of mandatory sentences for certain crimes and other factors have overcrowded many government facilities,” (WSJ) thousands of inmates are being contracted out to private prison corporations like the Corrections Corp. of America (CCA).

Inmate population in 10 states is expected to increase by 25% or more by 2011. The net profits of CCA, the largest private-prison operator, has risen 14% to $37.9 million. “There is going to be a larger opportunity for us in the future,” said Damon Hininger, CCA’s president.

California has shipped more than 5,100 inmates to CCA prisons since late 2006. “Prisons were so overcrowded that hundreds of inmates were sleeping in gyms….

Outsourcing incarceration to prison companies can reduce a government’s cost…by as much as 15%....Private operators say…“their payroll costs are lower and they can consolidate prisoners from many far-flung jurisdictions into facilities located in areas where land and building costs are very low.”

“Profit is…structured into the way these prisons are operated,” says Judy Greene, a justice-policy analyst….” (WSJ)

An ACLU suit charged CCA with “operating an overcrowded, unsafe immigrant-detention center…. Detainees were routinely assigned in groups of three to sleep in two-room cells — meaning one had to sleep on the floor near the toilet….The suit also alleged that detainees had little access to mental-health care.”

It was under Obama’s Democratic Party predecessor, Clinton, that the prison population skyrocketed to over two million and the immigration “reform” law was passed which is being used to jail undocumented immigrants. Somehow, “changing” this situation escaped Obama’s promises.

As the fascist attacks on immigrants intensify while unemployment rises and workers become more desperate, look for thousands of the jobless and immigrants to find themselves behind bars, and then “employed” in prison factories turning out products at 23¢/hr “wages.” Thus do U.S. bosses jail their unemployment problem and reap slave-labor profits.

Congo 2/12/09

The DR Congo has a new arrest warrant for Nkunda.

“This mandate was issued by the Congolese judiciary requesting that it be presented with Mr. Nkunda so he can be tried for crimes against humanity and war crimes,” Luzolo Bambi said. “These crimes are notably and essentially rapes, murders, killings.”

FDLR bases have been raided and many rebels arrested.

LRA leader Joseph Kony has handed in his two wives to the joint forces that are fighting the LRA. Two LRA leaders want to surrender.

My thoughts about last night’s Daily Show

I was watching the Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night. He had a man on, and he wrote a book about hybrid cars and the like. I forgot the name of the book and the man. Anyway, him and Mr. Stewart discussed why electric cars and other environment-friendly cars aren’t taking over (if I may use that phrase) America.

They basically said it’s because the oil/gas companies don’t want them to. These companies have a big hold on the government, and they don’t want any environmentally friendly vehicles getting between them and their profit. Stewart and his guest said that some of the bailout money, and only some, should go to helping hybrid and electric car companies get up and running. It wouldn’t take much and it’d be great for the environment.

The only way to save the environment is through communist revolution. The fat-cats that are destroying the Earth now have too strong of a hold on the current government. They will always have this hold. That is why we need to overthrow them and their politician lackeys in the government. Then the national plans can produce environmentally friendly vehicles.

Criticism of Capitalism and State-capitalism

Criticism of Western Style Capitalism

40,000 children die each day from malnutrition and preventable disease. Since the collapse of the USSR, there has been an awful housing crisis in Russia. The gap between rich and poor nations is growing, and it has doubled over the past thirty years.

Enterprises don’t cooperate with each other, and therefore don’t produce as much as they could. When they do cooperate through contracts, then they are usually unstable contracts. New technology isn’t shared and only employed when profitable. Within private companies there is departmentalism, which ignores the overall needs of the company.

All of this shows that capitalism doesn’t perform efficiently or rationally.

Western capitalism has failed to solve the problem of homelessness, even in the USA. Capitalists don’t know how much and for whom they are producing. They have to adjust the amount of workers, products, and prices after the fact. Capitalism is a big gamble, and gambling, as you know, isn’t safe.

Furthermore, if market and price mechanisms work so efficiently, then one must question why capitalists require a bloated army of stock brokers, market researchers, and advertisement personnel to make its markets function properly.

Capitalism requires hierarchical and bureaucratic control over people. Just look at all the many echelons of managers, technocrats, supervisors, and political apparatuses of a modern corporation.

What Went Wrong in the USSR

Eventually, in the USSR, state-capitalism developed due to bureaucracy and other factors. Some people like to blame Khrushchev for state-capitalism.

“The running of industry by individuals inevitably leads to private ownership.” - Engels

The state-capitalists placed managers in charge of factories and farms. The managers had all of the power in their workplaces. The working people had none. The managers and similar bureaucratic elements made more than ten times the amount of the worker. Like under Western style capitalism, the managers didn’t have answer to the masses. This lead to departmentalism and competition between state enterprises instead of cooperation and emulation. Just like in the West.

Central planners had no idea what was going on because enterprises were sending false information to planning agencies in order to compete with other enterprises. Enterprises tried to outplan each other and resorted to hiding and hording resources. What they were trying to do, in a way, was draw profits from a centralized supply of credit and resources.

This is why we need Maoism.

Sect of Revolutionaries

Attention: This article is from 2009. If you are looking for news about recent events regarding the Sect of Revolutionaries, then please click here.

A group in Greece called the Sect of Revolutionaries attacked a police station recently. They said they were unlucky that no cops died. They placed their first communique on the grave of a boy who was murdered by Greek police.

The Sect of Revolutionaries plans on killing capitalists, politicians, and reactionary journalists as well as cops.

Solidarity with the Sect of Revolutionaries! May the revolutionary spirit of the Greeks spread throughout the world!

Review of “Maoist Economics and the Revolutionary Road to Communism: The Shanghai Textbook”

Although the end of the forward and most of the afterword (both written by Raymond Lotta) seem pointless, it’s still a good book. The main part of the book was written by Chinese Maoists during the Cultural Revolution. It is written in plain English (translated from plain Chinese) so that ordinary people can understand it. It was written for the average worker.

It goes over the basics of Marxist economics and then goes into detail about how a Maoist economy is run. It criticizes the mistakes of the USSR and the capitalist roaders who took over there after Stalin died. It is complete with real charts and statistics about the booming economy of Maoist China.

The back of the book has positive reviews from a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford and a Political Economist and Research Fellow at Harvard University. So it’s not just stale propaganda, it’s a book to be taken very seriously.

You’ll learn a lot from this book. Anyone who is interested in communist economics should read this book. I recommend it for both beginners and “experts.” I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

You can order this book here (click here).

Publicity Stunt with Blackwater

The contract between Washington and Blackwater Co. expires in May. Obama doesn't plan on renewing the contract. However, we must keep in mind that Obama still has a few months to use Blackwater.

There are two other groups just like Blackwater currently operating in Iraq. So cutting ties with one company is just a publicity stunt. Obama will use the other two companies to commit America's war crimes.

Quick Update 2/1/09

Israel is threatening more attacks on Gaza in response to ongoing rocket attacks. A group loosely linked to Fatah has claimed responsibility for two rocket attacks. Israel openly stated that its retaliation will be disproportionate.

-----

The elections of the US puppet government in Iraq have been called a success by Washington and the Baghdad puppets. There are questions about the fairness of these elections, and the UN said there must be an investigation into the accusations. Voter turnout was lower than expected at just over 50%.

-----

Nkunda was arrested on the 22nd of January. The DR Congo, in collaboration with Rwanda, will be working to wipe out all hostile militias in the area. It came as a surprise when Rwanda supposedly pulled the plug on the CNDP.
